She was the daughter of renowned astronomer Maslama al-Majriti, with whom she worked closely. She wrote numerous treatises on astronomy, known as the ''Corrections of Fatima''. Her work, entitled ''Astrolabe Treaty'' on the use of this instrument is preserved in the Library of the Monastery of the Escorial.
